How do I set up a domain redirect without a hosting package?
If you have a domain registered with 20i but no hosting package, you can still redirect it to another location using a domain redirect.
Steps to Set Up a Redirect
- Go to Manage Domains in your 20i account.
- Click Options > Manage next to the domain you want to redirect.
- Choose Domain Forwarding from the menu.
Select the type of redirect:
- 301 Permanent Redirect
- 302 Temporary Redirect
- Framed Redirect
Enter the destination URL you'd like your domain to point to.
Save your changes.
Redirect Type Explained
301 Permanent Redirect
This tells browsers and search engines that the domain has moved permanently.
Best for SEO — search engines will transfer ranking and indexing to the new URL.
302 Temporary Redirect
Indicates the domain has moved temporarily, but may return to its original address.
Search engines won’t transfer SEO value — useful for short-term changes or testing.
Framed Redirect
Displays the destination website within a frame so your original domain remains in the browser’s address bar.
Not recommended for SEO or modern web practices — may cause issues with site functionality and user experience.
