Autoscale Questions
Can Autoscale be Resold?
All 20i Shared and Reseller Hosting includes autoscaling and load balancing as standard. These core features are part of the 20i platform and are not exclusive to any one product.
The key difference with the new Autoscale hosting product is that it also includes:
- High-Frequency (HF) Compute – for faster processing and improved performance under load
- Precaching – to speed up content delivery and reduce Time to First Byte.
Do Resellers already benefit from autoscaling and load balancing?
Yes. All websites hosted through 20i Reseller Hosting already benefit from:
- Autoscaling to handle traffic spikes
- Load balancing for reliability and uptime
- The same platform that powers all 20i shared hosting products.
These features remain a key part of what sets 20i hosting apart from traditional shared hosting.
So, how can a Reseller sell Autoscale?
Simple – by offering the Website Turbo add-on.
Website Turbo gives any site on your Reseller Hosting account access to the exact same infrastructure that powers Autoscale, including high-frequency CPUs and precaching.
This means Resellers can sell Autoscale-level performance – just under a different name.
Website Turbo includes:
- Use of high-frequency compute
- Precaching for faster load times
- No need to migrate or switch platforms
- Full compatibility with all Reseller Hosting services
Can Resellers profit from selling Turbo?
Yes. Website Turbo is an optional add-on that Resellers can offer at their own pricing. This creates a straightforward upsell opportunity for clients who want faster performance, particularly for ecommerce sites, dynamic content, or high-traffic projects.
How to position this with clients
If clients ask about Autoscale or see it advertised, Resellers can explain that:
- Their hosting already benefits from autoscaling and load balancing
- The key performance enhancements in Autoscale are available through the Website Turbo add-on
- There’s no need to move hosting or migrate sites to access these features

What’s the difference between 20i’s Autoscale and the Linux Autoscaling Platform?
With the introduction of 20i’s new Autoscale platform, it is important to understand what this new platform provides as features and how it compares to the current, existing shared hosting platform.
Our shared hosting platform, by standard, includes autoscaling and load-balancing as baked-in core features. Reseller Hosting and Autoscale both utilise these as a part of their infrastructure, and come with their own benefits and features in addition to this.
20i Autoscale
The new 20i Autoscale platform comes with two additional significant features:
- High-Frequency (HF) Compute - for faster processing and improved performance under load
- Precaching – to speed up content delivery and reduce Time to First Byte.
In addition to this, the system implements the standard 20i autoscaling and load-balancing to ensure the best possible performance from your site as traffic increases and reduces.
Autoscaling Linux Hosting / Reseller Hosting
Our shared hosting platform (available to Resellers) includes autoscaling and load balancing as standard. This applies to all package types on our shared hosting platform, and allows for your client’s sites to reliably handle incoming traffic or strain while maintaining performance.
Should you wish to access the additional features the Autoscale platform provides alongside these, the Website Turbo add-on is available for our Resellers to purchase and apply to any site to grant access to the exact same infrastructure that powers Autoscale, including high-frequency CPUs and precaching.

What’s the difference between 20i’s Autoscale and Managed Cloud Hosting?
With the introduction of our new Autoscale platform, it may be confusing to understand how it differs from our Managed Cloud Hosting plans and which one is best suited for your use case. While both provide high performance and reliability, they are designed for different types of projects and customers.
In this guide, we’ll break down the key differences between these two plans to help you decide which one is best for your website.
Autoscale Hosting
Autoscale Hosting is our latest and most advanced shared hosting technology. It's designed for high-demand websites that need automatic scalability, enhanced performance, and built-in resilience - all without the complexity of managing a server.
Although all our shared-hosting plans benefit from autoscaling, this plan takes it a step further by utilising high-frequency CPUs and pre-caching technology to deliver lightning-fast load times and enhanced reliability.
Core Features:
- Pre-caching for faster content delivery
- High-frequency CPUs for enhanced processing power
- Larger database sizes compared to standard shared hosting
Limits:
- Number of websites per package
- Number of mailboxes
- Storage space
- Bandwidth usage
Autoscale Hosting is ideal if you want industry-leading performance on a shared hosting infrastructure, without worrying about managing a server.
Managed Cloud Hosting
Managed Cloud Hosting gives you your own server with fully dedicated resources - ideal for developers or businesses who need guaranteed CPU and RAM for their sites.
Unlike Autoscale Hosting, your sites aren’t on a shared platform. Instead, you get isolated server resources, which means no performance interference from other users. However, it also means that if your server exceeds its resource limits, your sites may slow down or experience errors like HTTP 5XXs.
Core Features:
- Dedicated CPU and RAM - not shared with others
- Database size is only limited by your server’s disk space
- Fully managed server environment - no system admin skills required
Limits:
- No autoscaling - resources are fixed
- Storage and bandwidth limits apply
Managed Cloud Hosting is perfect for those who need consistent, isolated resources and prefer the control of a VPS, without the hassle of managing it themselves.
Summary: Which One Should You Choose?
Feature | Autoscale Hosting | Managed Cloud Hosting |
---|---|---|
Server Type | Shared (Autoscaling) | Virtual Private Server (Fixed Resources) |
Autoscaling | ✔️ Yes | ❌ No |
High Frequency CPUs | ✔️ Yes | ❌ No (standard VPS CPUs) |
Pre-caching | ✔️ Yes | ❌ No |
Max Database Size | Large (5GB) | Only limited by your disk space |
Management Level | Fully managed | Fully managed |

What is Pre-Cache?
Pre-caching involves proactively caching resources on the CDN network so that they are readily available for users before they visit a web page or use an app. This technology streamlines the loading process, allowing users to access what they need quickly and eliminating the need for the first cache HIT.
Pre-caching is available for our Reseller Hosting customers, who can activate it through the Website Turbo add-on, and for our Autoscale Hosting customers.
The Benefits of Pre-Caching
Pre-caching comes with numerous benefits, including:
- Improved Load Times: Pages and applications can load significantly faster by storing resources in advance.
- Enhanced User Experience: Faster load times and smoother interactions improve user experience.
- Efficient Bandwidth Use: Pre-caching can reduce unnecessary bandwidth usage by minimising the need to fetch the same resources from the server repeatedly.
- Reduced Server Load: Pre-caching aids in distributing the load across servers.
In My20i, you can access a Cache Report that shows you the pages we've identified, whether they are cacheable, and if they are not, the reasons why.
Using the Cache Report
Precaching allows for your websites to be pre-fetched by all of our CDN locations around the globe, for faster response times from anywhere in the world.
In My20i, you'll receive access to a new Cache Report that will display what pages are and are not cacheable on your sites.
If a page is found to be unable to be cached, you’ll be informed of the reasons why, providing a very easy way of identify and resolve caching issues across your website to give it the absolute maximum performance.
Pre-caching ensures a much higher cache hit rate for all users regardless of location and thus a faster experience for your visitors.
How does Precaching work?
To pre-cache your site, our 20i web crawler navigates each URL on your site and caches it. The cache report displays the URLs that were crawled and whether they were successfully cached.
Pre-caching has a limit of 1,000 URLS; however, you can control which URLS get crawled by creating a blocklist. To exclude specific URLs from being crawled, you need to make a .crawlrc
file in your website's root directory.
By default, if you do not have a .crawlrc
file, we exclude the following paths:
/nonce /basket /share
/wishlist /cart
/yith /wcan
The .crawlrc
file contains a list of the paths you want to exclude from crawling. It must be a valid JSON file formatted as follows:
{
"SKIP_REGEX": "/basket|contact|cart/"
}
The only key should be SKIP_REGEX
, and the value should be a combination of paths to be excluded from your site. You can use regex, where the `|` symbol separates multiple paths. In the example above, we excluded /basket
, /contact
, and /cart
from being crawled.
With the .crawlrc
file, you have greater control over what URLs get crawled on your site.
